Ghaziabad: The mortal remains of an army jawan, resident of Muradnagar, Ghaziabad, who went missing during trekking in 2005, will be cremated after 16 years at his native place with state honours.
Born in Hisali village of Muradnagar, Amrish Tyagi lost his life after falling into a deep gorge from a mountain in Uttarakhand in September 2005.
The brave climber had hosted the tricolour several times on the highest peak, passing through the Himalayas and Siachen. Even in 2005, he went with his team to hoist the flag on the top of Siachen but unfortunately while returning he along with other teammates met with an accident and were buried in the snow.
Rescuers managed to recover three bodies of jawans during a rescue operation that year but unfortunately failed to find Tyagi's body.
