Sushma calls up Salve before death, asks him to collect fee for Kulbhshan case

An hour before she passed away on August 6, Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had asked advocate Harish Salve to visit her on August 7 and collect his Re 1 fee, which he had asked for representing India at the ICJ in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

New Delhi:Sushma Swaraj called up advocate Harish Salve an hour before her death and insisted him to meet her to collect his Re 1 fee on Wednesday for having represented India at the International Court of Justice last month.

Harish Salve had represented India at the International Court of Justice in the case pertaining to Kulbhushan Jadhav.

"I spoke to her at 8:50 pm. It was a happy conversation. She said you have to come and meet me. I have to give you your one rupee fee for the case which you won. She said to come tomorrow at 6 pm," Salve told a news agency.

He also said that the former External Affairs minister was like his elder sister and had a close relationship with her.

According to reports, Harish Salve charged only a rupee to represent India last month at the ICJ.

Sushma Swaraj had described the ICJ's verdict as a major victory for India.

Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj died at the AIIMS on Tuesday night following cardiac arrest in New Delhi. She was 67.
