New Delhi:In the wake of rising Covid cases in the national capital,Sewa Bharati—the service wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)—opened a Covid care centre at Laxmibai College in North Delhi.

The covid care centre is equipped with 100 beds. Mahavir, a social worker of Sewa Bharati told that ETV Bharat that the centre is equipped with oxygen supply, diagnostic facilities and a canteen for patients and health staff.

"We have initiated this noble work for those who are infected by the deadly virus and have been living with their family. If an infected patient gets a place for isolation, that family will be secured from this virus," said Mahavir.

He said the organisation has employed two resident doctors and two guest doctors for the patients admitted at the centre.

"The patients and the healthcare workers will be served food and other nourishments," added Mahavir.

However, he told that the centre will not accept those above 60 years of age and patients suffering from co-morbidities.

"We have sent a proposal to the administration to start a vaccination drive at the centre," added the Sewa Bharati worker.

Meanwhile, Delhi, which is facing an acute shortage of Covid treatment facilities witnessed 375 COVID-19 deaths and over 27,000 new cases on Saturday. The Covid-19 positivity rate in the city was 32.69 percent during the last 24 hours.

With the addition of fresh infections, the total COVID-19 count of the national capital to 11,49,333. The city also reported 25,288 recoveries from the disease in the last 24 hours. The national capital is under lockdown since April 20 this year.
