New Delhi: The government has sounded a high alert across the national capital following intelligence inputs that Pakistan backed terror organisations might try to create disturbance ahead of the festive season.

The decision to this effect was taken following a high-level meeting attended by Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Delhi police commissioner Amulya Pathak and several other senior officials here.

Officials privy to the meeting told ETV Bharat that the law and order situation in the national capital was also reviewed in the meeting.

Last month, intelligence agencies had provided inputs to the Home Ministry indicating Pakistan backed terror outfits, including JeM and LeT might try to disturb peace in India after the modification of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.

The Home Ministry had earlier asked the state governments of Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat, Maharastra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to be on high alert.

There are also reports suggesting that the terror organisations might try to create sabotage and disturbance in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lok Sabha constituency.
