Scare at Delhi CM's residence as portion of roof collapses

A major mishap was averted at the official residence of the Delhi Chief Minister, as a portion of the roof collapsed. Fortunately, no one was present in the chamber during the incident.

New Delhi: There was a major scare at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, after a portion of the roof recently collapsed.

According to reports, the heavy rain in the national capital took a toll on the old structure, as a portion of the roof at a chamber in the CM's official residence collapsed. The chamber was being used by Kejriwal as his office.

Fortunately, no one was hurt as the chamber was reportedly empty during the mishap.

According to reports, while repair work was being carried out for the damaged roof, a portion of the toilet in the same chamber also collapsed. Further, the bricks in the toilet were also exposed.

Meanwhile, the Public Works Department (PWD) officials are conducting a review of the building. A call on the permanent repair or renovation work will only be taken after the assessment report.

The official residence at 6 Flagstaff Road in the national capital's Civil Lines area, was constructed way back in 1942. According to reports, temporary repairs have been taking place at the residence since 1942.

Arvind Kejriwal has been staying at the residence since March 2015 when he was elected as the Delhi Chief Minister.
