New Delhi:The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Election Commission seeking a response on a petition which claimed that the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) can be tampered by changing the source code, on Friday.
The petition was filed by Advocate Sunil Ahya who has claimed that there was no independent software audit or review of the EVMs. He also added that there is also no audit of the source code which is an essential part of the machine.
Ahya's plea seeked directions- "to register a hash function of the source code of the EMV, VVPAT and ETS with appropriate public authority, as part of software audit review process, which can then be used on an election day to confirm that the audited version of the software is being used."
