New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed petitioner Indu Kaul, who sought a CBI enquiry into the murder of advocate Darvesh Yadav, to approach the Allahabad High court.

The bench said that the plea deals with a specific incident for which Allahbad High Court has to be approached. It asked, "Is the High Court powerless to deal with this issue?"

Darvesh Yadav, who had become the first woman chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, was shot dead on June 12 by his colleague Manish Sharma in a lawyer's chamber after an argument.

Yadav had gone to the Agra Court to thank her colleagues for supporting her. Sharma was said to be her good friend and the reason behind the murder is still not clear.

Sharma, after killing Kumar, had also shot himself immediately.

After the incident, the Allahabad High Court had directed the UP police to ensure proper security arrangements in and around all the courts in the state.
