SC directs NIA to provide transfer petition of Bhima Koregaon accused

Advocate informed the court that Navlakha had surrendered in Delhi but the case was registered in Mumbai, because of this reason, he could not be taken to Mumbai. The Bombay court had issued a production warrant against Navalkha.

New Delhi:The Supreme Court bench led by Justice Arun Mishra ordered the National Investigative Agency(NIA) to serve Bhima Koregaon accused, and social activist Gautam Navalakha, a copy of its petition which challenged the Delhi High Court's order of criticising NIA on transferring Navalkha from Delhi to Mumbai while the case was already pending to be decided.

Advocate informed the court that Navlakha had surrendered in Delhi but the case was registered in Mumbai, because of this reason, he could not be taken to Mumbai. The Bombay court had issued a production warrant against Navalkha.

The advocate appearing for Navalkha said that he has not been served with the NIA plea with which it has approached the SC and therefore could not argue today. The court ordered NIA to give him the copy so that he can respond and listed the case on July 6.

Earlier this month, Delhi High Court had pulled up the National Investigation Agency for "hurriedly transferring" Navlakha to Mumbai while a matter related to his interim bail plea was pending before the court.
