New Delhi: The Supreme Court, in accordance with its 2017 order, has directed the Kerela government to pay ₹5 lakh to four children who fell victim to the Endosulfan pesticide tragedy.

The petition was filed by four children namely, Archana, Afsal, Nisha and Vijayalakshmi, that the government failed to pay them the compensation amount.

The Kerela government categorized them in the "other" category and not considered them eligible for Human Rights Commission recommended financial compensation.

In 2017, on a contempt petition filed by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the SC had ordered the Kerela government to pay Rs five lakh each as compensation to the Endosulfan victims within three months.

The Supreme Court noted today that it doesn't see any reasonable justification to deny them the compensation and directed the Kerela government to pay the compensation to the guardians of the four minors within two months.
