New Delhi: With the number of coronavirus infected people rising every day, scarcity of medical facilities, including beds for the patients, is also increasing in the national capital.
An unverified document, stating that the minimum charge for any coronavirus patient would be rupees three lakh irrespective of the number of days he/she might have stayed in the hospital, is doing rounds on various social media platforms.
Rupees forty thousand would be charged per day for a bed in the general ward of the hospital, which allegedly issued the circular, and a bed in the single room would cost rupees 50,000. Similarly, rupees 75,000 would be needed for an ICU bed and in case the patient requires a ventilator, the charges would go up to rupees one lakh, it added.
It also makes it clear that rupees four lakh would have to be submitted in advance at the time of admission. It would cost one lakh more for a single room and rupees eight lakh would be charged in advance in case the patient is to be admitted directly to the ICU facility of the hospital.
The circular, which could not be verified, bears the name of Saroj Super Speciality Hospital and Saroj Medical Institute of the city.
It has emerged at a time when Delhi Chief Minister has warned all private hospitals against any black-marketing of the beds and also announced that hospitals in the national capital would cater only to the people Delhi till the coronavirus pandemic is gone.
