Refugee Hindus from Pakistan facing tough times during lockdown

Pakistani Hindu families living in Delhi after their migration to India few year ago are passing through difficult times during the lockdown. They say with their daily wages gone, they don't have anything to eat. The families, who had come here in search of better life, are helpless as restrictions, imposed to deal with coronavirus, have resulted in joblessness.

New Delhi: Refugee Hindu families, who came here from Pakistan few years ago, have been facing tough times with no resources to arrange food for their children during the on-going lockdown, as the restrictions, imposed to combat coronavirus, have resulted in joblessness for most of them.

"We don't have anything to eat. We depend on our daily wages but ever since lockdown came into effect, there has been no work," Sudheer told ETV Bharat here.

Sudheer and many others like him are living in Bhatti Mines area of the national capital after they shifted to India from neighbouring country of Pakistan in search of better life. He said government was not doing anything for them during the lockdown.

Shanti, a woman living here with her family, said: "We are people who survive on our daily wages and these have been very difficult days for us".

The government should provide food for all of us, she said, adding that they were facing the same difficulties in Pakistan "You see our house...we faced similar situation there but now here also we don't get anything," said another person.

Others living in the area also expressed similar views. They said no one from the authorities have come to see their plight.
