Protest continues against CAB in Delhi

Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Hannan Mollah vehemently criticised the BJP government for misusing exchequer money. There is still an ongoing protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) bill, in Delhi. Mollah further said that the government has been targeting the people from the minority community.

New Delhi:As the Centre is all set to bring the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in the ongoing session of the Parliament, protest against the controversial bill continues unabated in Delhi.

Comparing the working style of the incumbent central government with that of Muhammad bin Tughluq (Sultan of Delhi from 1325 to 1351), Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Hannan Mollah vehemently criticised the BJP government for misusing exchequer money.

"The government first carried the National Register of Citizen (NRC) work in Assam spending crores of rupees. And now they are not recognising the NRC and on the other hand, they are working on a pan-India NRC including Assam," said Mollah.

More than Rs 1600 crore was utilised to prepare the final NRC list in Assam.

Mollah said that the government has been targeting the people from the minority community.

In a related development, representatives from All Bodoland Minority Students Union (ABMSU) of Assam has staged a protest demonstration in New Delhi against Centre's move to bring CAB.

"We are opposing CAB. The government is targeting the minority community..." said ABMSU president Abu Sayed Ansari.

Significantly, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will sit for another round of talks with representatives from All Assam Students Union (AASU), Naga Students Federation (NSF) on Tuesday over CAB.

According to the government sources, the meeting between Home Minister Shah with representatives of different organisations from Northeast was a last attempt from the government side to bring a consensus over CAB.
