Triple Talaq Bill will bring justice in a 'constitutional way': BJP

BJP's National Spokesperson Prem Shukla expressed his opinion on the issue of Triple Talaq Bill and said that the Bill will be passed soon and bring justice in a constitutional way.

New Delhi:Expressing his opinion on the issue of Triple Talaq Bill, which is currently under debate in Rajya Sabha, BJP's National Spokesperson Prem Shukla on Tuesday said that he is hopeful that the Bill will be passed and enacted soon.

He appreciated those who were in support of the bill and said: "This Bill will bring a revolution and will bear justice in a constitutional way."

Talking to ETV Bharat, Prem Shukla said, "The aim of the Bill is to provide justice to the Muslim women as Triple Talaq goes against the rights of equality and women’s empowerment."

When asked whether the passing of Triple Talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha would create a Muslim vote bank for BJP, Shukla said that this matter should not be politicised.

The Triple Talaq bill criminalises instant divorce by Muslim men and seeks jail term for the guilty.

It was the first draft legislation tabled by the Narendra Modi government in this first session after he (Modi) took an oath of office for the second term in May.

Several opposition parties have bitterly opposed it but the government has asserted that the bill is a step towards gender equality and justice.
