New Delhi:General Secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Union Yudhvir Singh along with a few farmers has been detained on Saturday after he reached New Delhi to hand over a memorandum to Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal. Singh was taken into custody outside the Civil Lines metro station. A video of Yudhvir Singh has surfaced from the Civil Lines police station where he claimed that he wished to visit the LG peacefully but police have detained him.
Security of LG House has been beefed up as farmers across the nation are trying to reach Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to the President in the backdrop of completing seven months of protest against the Centre's three farm laws. According to reports, some farmers were also stopped and detained at the Delhi borders as thousands of them are reaching Singhu, Tikri, Ghazipur and Shahjahanpur to submit memorandums.

This comes after Samyukt Kisan Morcha decided to seek President's intervention in the farmers' agitation demanding repeal of the three farm laws. The farmers' movement also seeks a law on procurement with a guarantee on MSP. Samyukt Kisan Morcha said that the Central government no longer wants to listen to their appeals and not even sending a proposal to negotiate.

On Friday, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, during a media interaction in Madhya Pradesh, said that he is ready to solve the problems of farmers under the provision of laws. "If any proposal by the farmers comes to me on this subject, I am ready to discuss it with an open mind," he said. The minister, in a tweet on Saturday, once again appealed to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha to end the farmers' agitation. His statement has clarified that the Centre is not ready to repeal the farm laws.
