PM's speeches have become demeaning, says Surjewala

Attacking PM Modi over the made he recently made on former PM Jawaharlal Nehru, Randeep Surjewala asserted that PM Modi's speeches have been reduced to 'demeaning words'. He also accused the PM of not acting according to the position he is on.

New Delhi: Hitting at former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, PM Modi had recently said in one of his speeches that Nehru divided India into two parts to become the PM of a country.

Reacting on this statement, the Congress party said that PM Narendra Modi's speeches have now become reduced to 'Phatey dhol aur bhadde bol'.

Talking to ETV Bharat. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said: "It was expected from Modi Ji to behave according to the position he is on. But it seems like he will never be able to come up to those expectations of mine or the citizens of India."

Surjewala further alleged that "The kind of language our PM is using just to target the opposition, clearly shows that his speeches have come to a level where they have become demeaning."

Prime Minister Modi had earlier slammed the Congress by saying that "the day it begins to see India as India, it will realise the mistakes it has made over the years."

The war of words did not cease as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also came out to attack the PM over his speeches.

Gandhi said: " The PM did not utter a single word on employment during his speech, he is just trying to divert people's attention from the real issues."

"He is either interested in Congress or Nehru or Pakistan, but never in the issues that really matter to the Indian citizens," Rahul Gandhi added.
