New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the special video made by ETV Bharat as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary, at an event organised at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg here on Saturday.
The video, which was conceptualised and produced by ETV Bharat, is a rendition of "Vaishnav Jan to tene re kahiye, je peed parayee jane re, Par dukhe upkaar kare toye man abhimaan na aane re” (He is called a true “Vaishnav” who feels the suffering of another human being, and forgets that he has favoured people without taking pride over it), one of the favourite bhajans of Mahatma Gandhi.

The rendition has artistes from across India, singing the bhajan that Mahatma Gandhi popularised, which speaks about humanity, love and care for fellow beings.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Bollywood stars on Saturday. Along with ETV Bharat's video, Prime Minister Modi also released three other videos centering on the theme of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which were individually created by Rajkumar Hirani, Tarak Mehta group, and the Indian Government's Ministry of Culture.
The event was attended by the members of the Indian film and entertainment industry including Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Kangana Ranaut, Anand L Rai, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Sonam Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Sonu Nigam, Ekta Kapoor, members of Tarak Mehta group, and the Eenadu group.
During the interactive session, the Prime Minister thanked the creative heads and contributors for taking time out of their busy schedule for paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, at his personal request.
On the sidelines of the event, Prime Minister Modi personally interacted with the Eenadu representatives and praised the creative thought behind the 'Vaishnav Jan to...' initative. He also praised Eenadu group's contribution towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and remarked that Chairman Ramoji Rao had always been in the forefront in promoting social issues and lauded the group's work in spreading awarness among the people in the society.
Highlighting the impact of Mahatma Gandhi in the present day, the Prime Minister said that if there is one thought, one person, who can establish a connect with people all over the world, it is Gandhiji. Recalling the Einstein challenge proposed by him, Prime Minister urged the film fraternity to use the marvel of technology to bring Gandhian thought to the forefront.
