New Delhi: A Supreme Court bench led by the Chief Justice of Inida, SA Bobde, expressed shock over a 2008 agreement between the Congress and the Communist Party of China on the exchange of high-level information.
The court was hearing a petition seeking NIA or CBI probe into the agreement signed on August 7, 2008.
"Never heard of a foreign government signing an agreement with a political party," observed the CJI.

Calling it absurd, the CJI, allowed the petitioner to approach High Court for the matter and asked him to examine the averments as it is unheard of.
Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani told the court that it is an agreement between Congress and the single ruling party of China and the issue is centred around offences related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and serious issues are involved.
The bench was hearing a plea filed by Savio Rodrigues seeking an NIA/CBI investigation against Congress, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for entering into an agreement with China, under the UAPA Act, 1967, as the offences are related to UAPA and need to be brought in the public domain.
