New Delhi: Though it has been five months since the violent riots in Northeast Delhi, tension still prevails in the area as many families have put up posters that their houses are for sale.
Many families of a particular community, whose members are currently in jail over their alleged involvement in the riots, said that they have been receiving threats.
They said they have no other option but to sell off their houses and move out of the area. They are not even willing to approach the police about the threats, alleging that they have been denied justice.
Many such families in Maujpur, Mohanpuri, and Madhuban Mohalla areas of the city are currently in a state of fear over the threats they have been getting.
"We keep getting threats that we would not even be allowed to step out of our houses. My husband and brother in law both are in jail. We are scared," said a woman who had put up her house for sale.
