'NDA will win Bihar elections; people know the work we have done'

New Delhi: The BJP has expressed confidence that the NDA will win the upcoming Bihar elections, saying people know the kind of work that has been done by Prime Minister and other leaders for the state.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, BJP national spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri said that the BJP and allies will win the elections in Bihar.

"We know people of Bihar are with us. They are aware that our leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have done a lot for the state," he said, adding that the BJP will certainly get benefited.

Talking about the EC guidelines, he said all BJP meetings, conferences and functions are being carried out keeping in mind highly contagious coronavirus disease and the guidelines issued by the Election Commission in view of the Bihar assembly elections are already being followed in everything that the party does.

He said that there was nothing new in terms of the guidelines as the party was already taking all the necessary precautions and holding meetings virtually.

The polls in the state are due in October-November.

According to the EC guidelines, voters will be provided gloves while using EVMs and COVID-19 patients in quarantine will be allowed to vote at the last hour of the polling day.

It said that a separate set of guidelines would be issued for voters who are residing in areas notified as a "containment zone".

The poll panel also extended the option of the postal ballot for electors who are marked as persons with disabilities and those above 80 years. Electors who are COVID-19 positive or are suspected of having the infection and in quarantine at home or at an institution can also exercise the postal ballot option.

It also directed to install thermal scanners at the entry point of every polling station.
