NCW takes cognizance of alleged suicide of Pune girl

Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to Director General of Police, Maharashtra seeking appropriate action. The Commission has also sought a detailed action taken report in the matter at the earliest.

New Delhi:The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Sunday took cognizance of the alleged suicide of a 22-year-old girl named Pooja Chavan in Pune on February 7.

Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to Director General of Police, Maharashtra seeking appropriate action.

The Commission has also sought a detailed action taken report in the matter at the earliest.

A copy of the letter has also been sent to Additional Commissioner of Police, East Region, Pune.

NCW was tagged in a Twitter Post wherein the Commission was requested to take cognizance of the issue.
