Muzaffarpur shelter home case convict Ramanuj Thakur dies in Tihar

21 people were convicted by the court in Bihar's Muzaffarpur Shelter Home rape case where the main accused among them was Brijesh Thakur. Along with him, his maternal uncle Ramanuj Thakur was also arrested by the CBI on charges of sexually exploiting minor girls at the NGO.

New Delhi:Ramanuj Thakur, convicted in Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case on December 3 died, in Tihar Jail.

The jail administration said that Thakur was 70-year-old and died of natural causes.

Following a post-mortem, the body has been handed over to Thakur's family.

21 people were convicted by the court in Bihar's Muzaffarpur Shelter Home rape case where the main accused among them was Brijesh Thakur. Along with him, his maternal uncle Ramanuj Thakur was also arrested by the CBI on charges of sexually exploiting minor girls at the NGO.

He had been convicted in the case and was lodged in Tihar Jail number 3.

Ramanuj Thakur was brought to Tihar Jail on 23 February 2019. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 60,000 by Saket court on 11 February 2020.
