Munda launches tertiary processing units

It was done under the 'TRIFOOD' project being implemented by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) in association with the Ministry of Food Processing.

New Delhi: With an aim to increase the income of tribal forest gatherers, Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda has launched two tertiary processing centres in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.

It was done under the 'TRIFOOD' project being implemented by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) in association with the Ministry of Food Processing.

The minister, in an official statement, said that the project would help in promoting tribal entrepreneurship. According to the official sources, minor forest produce processing unit would be set up in Raigad of Maharashtra.

The minister said that efforts are on to help these people so their economic situation could be improved.
