Mother jumps from building with children, two dead

Woman allegedly killed her two children and attempted suicide in East Delhi's Laxmi Nagar. Children succumbed to the injuries while the woman's condition remained critical till the last reports came in.

New Delhi: A 34-year-old woman allegedly killed her two children and attempted suicide in East Delhi's Laxmi Nagar on Monday night. Both the children succumbed to injuries while the mother's condition remains critical.

The woman allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of the building with her 3-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter after which they were taken to the LBS hospital. The sister-brother duo was declared dead at the hospital and the woman is still battling for life.

The matter came to light when the neighbours heard the noise of Alia's son, Afran whom she first pushed from the fourth floor. He rushed to the hospital after which she jumped with her daughter. The neighbours later took the duo to the hospital.

Police started the primary investigation after reaching the spot. Alia had a fight with her husband yesterday night before she jumped from the building, police said.

Alia was staying with her husband and two children at a flat in Laxmi Nagar's Ramesh Park area.

Police sent the dead bodies for postmortem examination and started enquiring the woman's husband Munawar to find exact reasons in the case.
