MoHUA criticises UPA govt with figures in Housing

Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) Hardeep Singh Puri criticised the UPA 1 and 2 government stating that during 2004-14, the expanse of urban scheme was 1,57,703 crore, whereas in last four years of BJP government the expenditure on the urban sector was 9,7,286 crore.

New Delhi:Immediately after assuming charge as minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri criticised the UPA 1 and 2 government for neglecting India's urban sector.

Puri took charge as MoHUA minister for the second consecutive term.

Puri lost the recently concluded Lok Sabha election from Amritsar.

"In the last 10 years of the UPA government from 2004-14, the expanse of urban scheme was 1,57,703 crore. In the last four years of our government from 2015-2019 the expenditure on the urban sector was 9,7,286 crore," said Puri.

Prime Minister Modi has reportedly asked all the ministries to work with full effort to achieve targets in the next 75 days.

The Modi government had embarked upon a few significant urban development projects including Swacch Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, AMRUT among others.

"Our ministry is all set to achieve its target within the limited given time period," said an enthusiastic Puri.
