New Delhi:Amid Delhi Chief Minister's stepped-up tirade against the Centre over its push for ordinance and his desperate attempt to unite all anti-BJP Opposition parties to join forces against the Centre, the saffron party on Tuesday sharpened attack on the AAP leader over his alleged involvement in the "irregularities and violations" in the "reconstruction" of his residence, Raj Niwas.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwary said Kejriwal will go to jail after the CAG report comes out. "AAP leader and kingpin of the corrupt gang will go to jail after CAG report becomes public," Tiwary said. It was alleged that Kejriwal's residence "Sheesh Mahal" was renovated in collusion with the Minister in-charge of PWD with gross irregularities and the initial cost for construction work was Rs 15-20 crore.
Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has given a green signal to the proposal of Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena for a special audit by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of the renovation of Kejriwal's residence in the national capital. The Aam Aadmi Party condemned the Centre's decision to initiate a CAG audit into the reconstruction expenses of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's official residence, saying the move "reeks of desperation" as the BJP anticipates a defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha poll. The ruling party's sharp reaction came after Raj Niwas officials informed the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India will conduct a special audit into the alleged "irregularities and violations" in the "reconstruction" of the chief minister's residence.
