New Delhi: Attorney General of India, K K Venugopal, told the Supreme Court on Tuesday that issue of a sub judice matter being commented freely by the media needs to be looked into as it is causing great damage to the institution.
A bench comprising of Justices AM Khanwilkar, BR Gavai and Krishna Murari were hearing a contempt case of Advocate Prashant Bhushan over an interview given by him to Tehelka back in 2009.
The question of laws have to be decided in the matter pertaining to contempt. During the hearing, AG remarked that the media these days freely comments on the pending matters trying to influence the judges and public perception which is causing a great damage.
