New Delhi: To check black-marketing of goods under essential commodities and enforce lockdown measures following coronavirus outbreak, a joint team of Delhi Police and the state government on Thursday raided a number of shops in the national capital and seized goods worth lakhs of rupees and arrested a few traders.
Police sources said that in one such joint action with civil supplies officials in Janakpuri (West Delhi), the owner of M/S Rathi Store (Chanakya Palace), was found absent, and the outlet did not have the record of goods. The team recovered 115 quintals of wheat-rice.
A case was registered against the owner Prashant Rathi who has been arrested.
In another case, the joint team on Thursday raided North-East District's Seelampur area, where two persons were arrested for selling medicines in black.
A case under the Epidemic Act has been registered against the accused.
