New Delhi: After five of the six LJP MPs rebelled against their chief Chirag Paswan in Bihar, Vaishali MP Veena Devi held a meeting with Lok Janshakti Party members at her Delhi residence on Monday which was also attended by JD(U) MP Lalan Singh. The meeting lasted for nearly 30 minutes and none of the attendants gave a response to the media queries after the meeting. This comes amid speculations that JDU's Lalan Singh has played a prominent role in ousting Chirag Paswan as the leader of the Parliamentary Party in the Lower House.
According to sources, the rebel MPs have conveyed their decision to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and they are likely to join hands with the JD(U). Except for Chirag, all the other five MPs are set to quit the party as they wish to be led by Chirag's uncle and Hajipur MP Pashupati Paras. These MPs include Prince Raj, Chandan Singh, Veena Devi and Mehboob Ali Kaiser. The rebel MPs in a statement to the media expressed that they do not have any problem with Chirag remaining in the party but they want to change LJP's leadership by appointing Pashupati as the party's national president.
