New Delhi: The Kisan Morcha, which has been opposing the three agrarian reform laws of the central government on the borders of Delhi for the last 6 months, has withdrawn the plans for celebrating 26 May as 'Black Day'. Farmer leaders have appealed that May 26 should not be called 'Black Day'. On Wednesday, the farmers' movement will also complete 6-months and on this same day, the Modi government also came to power 7 years ago.

Earlier, the Kisan Morcha had called for celebrating this day as 'Black Day', calling for nationwide protests, but today the Morcha has turned back from its stand. This has been done because May 26 is also the Buddha Purnima. In such a situation, calling May 26 'Black Day' will send a wrong message in the country and the image of the movement may be tarnished again. The Kisan Morcha has also announced to celebrate Buddha Purnima at all picketing sites between 8 am and 10 am. Farmer leaders will start the program only after offering flower garlands to the Buddha statue.
