New Delhi: Refuting reports of Asif Khan, a trainee pilot with GoAir, having been removed over his alleged hate tweets, the budget airline company said on Monday he is only suspended even as the matter is being probed.

A controversy broke out last week after objectionable and hateful comments were posted through Khan's social media account. The airline, reacting to the matter, made a statement on Twitter that it has zero tolerance policy on such issues.

"We have not terminated Asif Khan. We (had) only said that we would terminate him. He is suspended," a GoAir spokesperson told ETV Bharat here on Monday.

He said Khan told them that somebody hacked his twitter account and posted derogatory remarks.

"So, he has been suspended, till the investigation report comes in," he added, saying that the matter is being probed by the Mumbai Police cyber cell.

Giving his side of the story, Khan had said it was a case of mistaken identity and he did not make any abusive and derogatory comment against anyone.

"I have been getting death threats, abusive hate messages, my mother and sister threatened with rape, all because of a mistaken identity and because a guy with same name as mine had abused Holy Hindu God's," he said.
