New Delhi: Days before the publication of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) list in Assam, senior journalist CK Nayak on Monday has said that government of India should raise illegal migrants issue aggressively with the Bangladesh government.
"We are sitting on a time bomb. Already names of more than 41 lakh people have been excluded from the NRC, there could a big humanitarian crisis. What will happen to those 41 lakh people?" said Nayak.
It may be mentioned here that Home Minister Amit Shah had recently raised the issue of illegal immigrants with his Bangladesh counterpart Asaduzzaman Khan in New Delhi.
"These 41 lakh people either Bengali speaking Hindus or Muslims have come from Bangladesh, it's time Government should raise the issue with Bangladesh to deport them back," said Nayak.
Nayak, who is also an expert on issues related to the northeast, however, expressed concern over the security matter that may arise in the coming days.
