New Delhi: A year ago, a case of rape and attempt to murder of a 12-year-old girl came to light in Delhi's Paschim Vihar area. The girl had suffered serious injuries to her head and stomach. She was in a critical condition since the incident and needed an operation.
After the operation was performed in AIIMS Delhi, the girl is now doing well.
Dr PS Chandra of AIIMS' neurosurgery department said that the girl was admitted to the institute about a year ago. She had a skull fracture and there were blood clots in her brain. He said that initially, they managed her injuries without surgery, through the use of antibiotics and after a week performed brain surgery on the victim during the Covid Pandemic. Before that, Dr Chandra added, Dr Minu Bajpai of the Pediatric Surgery department had successfully operated on her stomach injuries.
