Hindu Raksha Dal claims responsibility for JNU violence

Stating that it would not tolerate anti-national activities, right-wing outfit Hindu Raksha Dal claimed responsibility for Sunday's violence at JNU, and said that it would do the same in other universities if students are found indulging in anti-national activities.

New Delhi: In an unexpected turn of events, right-wing outfit Hindu Raksha Dal on Monday 'claimed responsibility' for the brutal violence in JNU, where various students were injured.

The outfit claimed all the persons associated with the violence were its workers

Hindu Raksha Dal national convenor Pinki Choudhary said, "We could not tolerate the anti-national activities going on in JNU for the past several years. If anyone indulges in such anti-national activities, they will get the same answer from us."

"Their behaviour is against our religion. JNU has been a communist 'adda' for many years. We take full responsibility for yesterday's events," he added, claiming that all the persons behind the violence were Hindu Raksha Dal workers.

Choudhary further 'warned' that if such activities are seen in other universities, the Hindu Raksha Dal would not shy away from violence again.

The Delhi Police meanwhile, registered an FIR against unidentified and identified people for their alleged role in the campus violence on Sunday.

Police took suo motu cognisance of the violence and registered the FIR at Vasant Kunj North police station under which the campus comes.

As per the FIR, a case has been registered under Sections 145 (unlawful assembly,) 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of offence) and 151 (assembly of five or more persons likely to cause a disturbance) under the Indian Penal Code and under various sections of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.
