New Delhi:East Delhi BJP MP Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday inspected Ghazipur landfill site to check the ongoing waste segregation work, during which his car got stuck in garbage sludge. The vehicle was later pushed out of the sludge with the help of few labourers.
Gambhir was also accompanied by East Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dilraj Kaur, Mayor Nirmal Jain and other municipal officials during his visit.
During his interaction with the officials, he also inspected the machine installed for disposal of garbage.
During a media briefing, Gambhir said that he had called CM Kejriwal to join him for inspection of the landfill site but the latter had no time.
Earlier, Gambhir had claimed that the height of the garbage heap is reduced by 40 ft at the Ghazipur landfill site. Refuting the claim, Kuldeep Kumar, a local MLA of Aam Aadmi Party, stated that the height of the garbage heap has not reduced but rather the garbage is being spread around following which its height is visibility decreased.

"Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders are playing politics on the issue, instead of appreciating the good work of the corporation, questions are being raised on its functioning, which is incorrect," he said.
"Gambhir had come to see the condition of the landfill site that has been closed since September 2017 after an incident in which a part of the giant heap had caved in, leading to a road accident. He has a vision for the development of the area he represents," Mayor Nirmal Jain said.
