New Delhi:The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is meant to bring prosperity to people. But not all people rejoiced and welcomed the festival the way they used to. Ganesh idol sellers in the capital city lament their loss in the season of economic slowdown.
"I toiled so much and waited for the festival to earn a profit. But not only have I failed to make a profit, but my idols have also gone waste as I didn't get many buyers," said Kanhaiya, a local idol seller in West Delhi.
The 10-day long festival is being held this year amid the looming clouds of economic slowdown and the devastation caused by floods after heavy rains in some parts of the state.
