Protesting farmers organise symbolic wrestling matches; warn government of prolonged stir

Apart from farmers, common people have also gathered at different borders to watch the symbolic wrestling matches organised by the protesting farmers. The wrestling matches, popularly known as Dangals, were organised to issue a symbolic ultimatum to the government. The farmers said they are ready for a similar fight if their demands are not met.

New Delhi: Farmers agitating against the three farm laws organised a wrestling event as an ultimatum to the government, stating that they are ready for a similar fight if their demands are not met.

BC Pradhan, an office-bearer of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), warned that the farmers are also ready to continue the struggle.

If the government guarantees a new agricultural bill and the minimum support price then things will be fine else they are ready to even fight for it, he added.

The farmers are practising wrestling in full swing and they feel government's sentiments towards them have died. Farmers will also stage a tableau on the Republic Day. In the symbolic wrestling matches, agitators from all age groups took part.
