ETV Bharat at Shaheen Bagh: One protest but many stories

The protests at Shaheen Bagh against the Citizenship Act has reached its 52nd day now and the storm doesn't seem to wade any time soon. But this one protest itself has many stories, perceptions and views attached to it. Know more only on ETV Bharat.

Shaheen Bagh (New Delhi):At Shaheen Bagh, which became the nucleus of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) versus BJP battle for the Delhi election, voting took place on Saturday amid heavy security.

Long queues were seen at polling stations in Shaheen Bagh, which has been in the headlines for the massive anti-citizenship law protest, featuring mainly women and children, for nearly two months.

The campaign for the Delhi election was deeply polarising; the BJP sought to portray those protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in Shaheen Bagh as "traitors" and "anti-national".

Today, ETV Bharat has reached the epicentre of the anti-CAA protest and tried to re-discover the expectations of the women sitting in the protest.

A 70-year-old protestor said, "We are gathered here to protect our constitution. Apart from this anti- CAA protest, we are demanding the ruling party to end his dictatorship era and start fulfilling the demands of youths."

Another woman who has just come here after casting her vote said, "Casting vote is our right and protesting against the 'black law' is our prime duty."

"We are protesting not only for the recently amended law, but we are also protesting for our right to education, employment and a dream of the country without any fear", added a woman protestor.

A resident of the epicentre denied the allegations made by the BJP government of taking Rs 500 and biryani from the left parties. He also termed the allegation- 'baseless' adding that- "a new way to divert the voters from the real issues."
