Enough oxygen for Delhi hospitals: Satyendar Jain

Talking about his government filing an appeal in the Delhi High Court against the court's stay on the proposal to increase the number of ICU beds in private hospitals, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said: "it's a dynamic situation and the Delhi Government works keeping in mind the situation".

New Delhi: Clarifying that there's no shortage of oxygen in Delhi hospitals, Health Minister Satyendar Jain has said that the city government is working "keeping in mind the situation" arising out of the coronavirus pandemic.

Interacting with ETV Bharat here, the minister said there was nothing to worry as he himself was keeping a watch on all developments concerning the availability of oxygen for the critically ill patients.

"There is no shortage of oxygen in Delhi hospitals. There is, however, a slight issue, but we have enough oxygen for the next 7 days, he said.

Jian said since Delhi gets oxygen from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, some suppliers in those states have been told to first supply oxygen there.

"These issues are being sorted", Jain said, adding that oxygen plants could only be set up in large open areas.

"We had ordered it after careful thought over the situation," the minister said.
The national capital had experienced a surge in coronavirus cases after managing the situation well in the past months.
