New Delhi: In a bid to promote electric buses in the national capital, Dialogue and Development Commission has submitted its report on Electric Vehicle Policy to the Delhi Transport Ministry.
The transport department is preparing to issue a notification soon after which the electric vehicle policy will be implemented in Delhi.
Electric vehicle charging stations to be built every 3 km in Delhi The Delhi government plans to add 1000 electric buses to the DTC fleet in the first phase and also proposes to set up charging stations for electric vehicles every three kilometres.
The state government has currently approved the construction of electric bus charging stations for two bus depots. Construction of these charging stations is expected to be completed by February. These charging stations will be made on the PPP model.
According to the Electric Vehicle Policy, in the next five years, 25% of the vehicles registered in Delhi will be electric vehicles.
It has also been proposed that there will be an open permit for electric bikes.
