New Delhi:The election commission on Sunday removed Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal in view of recent firing incidents near Jamia Milia Islamia and Shaheen Bagh.

The election commission has removed Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal in the aftermath of firing incidents at Jamia Milia Islamia and Shaheen Bagh.
"As decided by the Election Commission, this is to convey that Chinmoy Biswal IPS (2008), DCP (South-East) stands relieved from his present post with immediate effect and shall report to MHA," an election commission official said.
"In view of the ongoing situation, Commission directs that Kumar Gyanesh, DANIPS (1997) Senior most Addl. DCP (South-East) shall take charge of DCP (South-East) immediately from Chinmoy Biswal IPS," he added.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi may however immediately send a panel of three names to Commission for posting a Suitable Officer as regular DCP (South-East).
A compliance report with the charge taken over details may be immediately sent to Election Commission by the Chief Secretary/CP NCT of Delhi.
