Demolition drive leaves people traumatised in Delhi

The demolition drive in Delhi's Bawana area had left many residents traumatised. Around 15 houses have already been razed and residents are yet to get compensation by the government.

New Delhi: The demolition drive in Delhi's Bawana area has left many homeless and traumatised. There is a plan to build a highway in this area, under which DDA is demolishing 25 houses.

Out of 25 houses, 15 have already been razed.

The people living in the colony are shattered due to this. Locals said that they have been living in this colony since 1984 and now suddenly their houses are being demolished.

Traumatised by the demolition, 50-year-old Surya Narayan along with his wife committed suicide which left Narayan dead and his wife is battling for her life in the hospital

The people living in the area are still waiting in the hope that the Delhi government will rehabilitate them and bring together their shattered lives.
