New Delhi: Voices demanding population control law have again gained momentum with the MLAs of various political parties submitting a memorandum in this regard to President Ram Nath Kovind.

This could be an interesting development for political observers of the country as the deferred monsoon session of parliament is expected to begin early next month.

Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan has told ETV Bharat here that with India's population reaching at "dangerous level", there is need for a law to control it.

"We want the government to bring in a bill in this regard in the parliament," he said, adding it's an important issue and the MPs cutting across political party line must support it.

"It's not limited to any political party. All parties should come together on it," he asserted.

Expressing identical views on the matter, Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant said his party supports the idea of getting a bill in parliament on the matter.

He, however, said that the idea was not that of the BJP as Shiv Sena raised it first.

Given the past record, the Congress and other opposition would oppose it and the issue could cause uproar in the House.

Several BJP leaders, including Giriraj Singh, have been demanding it for a long time.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has also raised the issue many times, saying that a law for two children should be brought in to ensure proper development of the country.
