Delhi's second serological survey report to be out by Aug 17

During the survey, samples of 15 thousand people were taken and sent to laboratories in which 25 per cent of the samples were of the people below the age of 18, and 50 per cent of the same were of the ones in the age bracket of 18 to 40 years. The rest 25 per cent of the samples were from the people above the age of 40 years.

New Delhi: The report of the second serological survey, which was conducted to find out how many people have developed antibodies from the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the national capital, is expected by August 17, official sources said.

During the survey, carried out from August one to seven, samples of 15 thousand people were taken and sent to laboratories, they said, adding that 25 per centof the samples were of the people below the age of 18, and 50 per cent of the same were of the ones in the age bracket of 18 to 40 years. The rest 25 per cent of the samples were from the people above the age of 40 years.

Earlier, talking about the survey, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had said that he expects 35 per cent of people living in Delhi to have developed antibodies.

For the last exercise, survey teams were formed, blood samples were collected from selected individuals after taking written informed consent and then their sera were tested for the IgG antibodies. As many as 21,387 samples were collected during the first survey.

The previous serosurvey, which was conducted between June 27 to July 5, found that 24 per cent people in the national capital had developed antibodies from Covid-19 virus, which means that 24 per cent people got infected by the virus and then recovered.
