Delhi's Railway Board office to remain shut for 2 days for sanitization

The Railway Board office at New Delhi's Pragati Maidan will remain closed for 2 days in order to carry out intensive sanitization. This follows after some officials of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) tested positive for COVID-19.

New Delhi: After some officials of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) have been found Corona positive, Railway Board office at Pragati Maidan will remain closed for 2 days to carry out intensive sanitization.

The office is located at Metro Bhawan, Pragati Maidan, here in Delhi. On Monday, some officials were tested positive of COVID-19 due to which it has been decided that the office will remain shut from June 3 to June 4.

A circular released by Ministry of Railways stated, "Some officials of DFCCIL have tested COVID positive as per report dated 01.06.2020. As a result, Metro Bhavan, Pragati Maidan has been closed from 03.06.2020 to 04.06.2020 for intensive sanitization by DFCCIL. The office would reopen on 05.06.2020."

On Sunday, another Director-level senior official of Railway Ministry at Rail Bhawan was found Corona positive, prompting authorities to send 29 staffers to home quarantine. Since May 13, sixth case has been found infected in the Ministry.

Railways is continuing it's freight operations since the first nationwide lockdown was announced. In addition to that Railways has also operationalized 4,155 Shramik Special Trains till June 2, across the country, while transporting more than 57 lacks passengers to their home states.
