New Delhi: In view of Republic Day functions on January 26, security arrangements have been beefed up across the national capital. Delhi Metro train, which is used by lakhs of commuters on daily basis, has also been secured by deploying a large number of security personnel on all entry and exit points, and round the clock, a vigil is also being maintained with the help of CCTV surveillance, official sources said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Vikram Porwal told ETV Bharat here that all Delhi Metro stations have been secured by security personnel of Delhi Police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
"We have made teams of security personnel. They would guard not only the entry-exit points but platforms too," he said, adding that some plainclothes security personnel would travel in Metro coaches also.
On being asked about long queues at entry points, he said in order to ensure foolproof security people were being checked thoroughly and this has resulted in the long queues.
