Delhi residents get anti-India calls, probe underway

Delhi police lodged a case after few residents of national capital received anti-India calls ahead of Independence Day celebration. Cops said this was an attempt to create communal disharmony in order to wreak havoc before Independence day.

New Delhi: Special Cell of Delhi Police registered FIR after some residents of Delhi received anti-national calls from foreign numbers ahead of Independence Day, a source said.

Police revealed that the investigation is underway and interrogation is being carried out to nab the accused. Cops said this was an attempt to create communal disharmony in order to wreak havoc before Independence day.

"There has been threat calls wherein the caller has spoken against Narendra Modi's safety. The security has been beefed up and the matter is being probed gravely" the police said.

In a similar incident on Sunday a case was registered against unnamed persons after nearly 50 scribes in Lucknow received audio messages regarding the construction of Ram temple.

The FIR was registered on charges of sedition, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), IT Act, vilification or attacking religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, speaking words against national integration, deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings, and whoever, with the deliberate intention of wounding religious feelings.
