Delhi police use drones to monitor Najafgarh's Anaj Mandi for overcrowding

The Delhi police are using drones to monitor activities at Najafgarh's 45-year-old Anaj-Mandi and to see if people are violating the social distancing norms amidst the lockdown. The police are also mulling staggered timings for traders and buyers to avoid overcrowding in the markets.

New Delhi:The Delhi police have deployed drones, marked spots in front of stalls for customers to stand and are making repeated announcements to ensure people follow social distancing normsin Najafgarh's 45-year-old bustling Anaj Mandi which witnesses a steady stream of buyers throughout the day.

Civil defence volunteers have also been roped in for the task and police are mulling staggered timings for traders and buyers to avoid overcrowding in the markets.

The suppliers and buyers have been strictly directed to adhere to social distancing guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Banners and posters have also been put up at strategic locations across the market to create awareness about the need for social distancing in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

It is to be noted that the number of coronavirus cases in Delhi stood at 1,103 and the death toll at 24, according to official data.
