New Delhi: Hours after the Delhi Police registered two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment to women wrestlers, authorities have allegedly snapped electricity and water connection to the wrestlers protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

The protest of wrestlers, who are demanding arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and removal from all posts he holds entered the 7th day on Saturday. It is alleged that the Delhi Police has disconnected electricity and water connections at Jantar Mantar in a bid to force the protesting wrestlers to vacate the site and end their protest.

The protesting wrestlers said that the police administration is not allowing them to bring water and food to the site. Chairperson of the Delhi Women's Commission, Swati Maliwal on Saturday morning tweeted a video of the wrestlers having food under the lights of their mobile phones in absence of power. “Do not file FIR for the first 6 days, after that stop the electricity, food and water of the agitators. Perhaps even the most oppressor king would not have done this to his opponent, yet this is a democracy, yet this is the Olympic Champion,” Maliwal wrote while taking a dig at the government over the plight of wrestlers.

Ace wrestler Bajrang Punia, who is leading the protest said that the Delhi Police has told them if they want to protest, they should sleep on the road. “What kind of pressure has come on them today, there was no such problem before, this has happened only because of the pressure of the Supreme Court,” Punia said.

Punia further said that they had ordered some goods but the police are not allowing them to bring the goods to the protest site. “Until justice is served, we will protest no matter how much the police administration tortures us,” he added. The Delhi Police on Friday registered two FIRs against the WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh following intervention of the Supreme Court in the matter.
