Delhi: Manoj Tiwari defies lockdown rules, detained

BJP leaders, including Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, were detained by Delhi police, when they staged a protest against the Delhi government for their inefficient handling the COVID-19 cases. According to the police, the BJP leaders were detained as the norms of social distancing was going for a toss at Delhi's Raj Ghat.

Delhi:Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, along with BJP general secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal and BJP spokesperson Ashok Goel, was detained by Delhi police, when they staged a protest against the AAP government.

According to Delhi police, the BJP leaders were detained as the norms of social distancing was going for a toss at Delhi's Raj Ghat.

In view of the central government's rules at present, no demonstration or crowd gathering is allowed currently.

BJP has been continuously criticising the Kejriwal government for their inefficiency in handling the COVID-19 cases in the state.

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari was detained in Delhi for defying lockdown rules on Monday.

Referring to the recent recruitment advertisement where the state government called Sikkim as a "separate nation", Tiwari said, "This government has money to run advertisement but can't pay salary."

"The coronavirus cases are rising and the AAP government is sleeping and acting inefficiently," said Kuljeet Singh Chahal.

On Sunday, Delhi recorded 1295 new infections, which was the fourth consecutive day of 1000-plus cases in the city.

Recently, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the borders of the national capital will be sealed for the next one week and only essential services will be allowed amid the surge in COVID-19 positive cases.
