Delhi: Junior doctor who battled COVID-19 for a month passes away

Dr Joginder Chaudhary, a junior doctor who fought off coronavirus infection for over a month passed away in Delhi. Ganga Ram hospital had waived the medical bills amounting to over Rs 4 lakh after an appeal by Joginder's father.

New Delhi: Dr Joginder Chaudhary, a junior doctor who was suffering from COVID-19, passed away at Ganga Ram hospital in the national capital after putting a brave fight for over a month.

Chaudhary, 28-year-old resident doctor was admitted to Ganga Ram on July 8 after his condition deteriorated.

Earlier, Dr Joginder Choudhary's father, Rajendra Chaudhary, had appealed to hospital management to waive off the amount as he was in no position to afford to repay the amount.

Rajendra Chaudhary, a farmer from Madhya Pradesh, had also written to the Arvind Kejriwal-led government for help. After the letter found its way into social media, Ganga Ram hospital had waived the medical bills amounting to over Rs 4 lakh. The hospital had also decided to return the previous amount (Rs 1.5 lakh) paid so far by the doctor’s family.

An MBBS, Joginder has been working on an ad hoc basis at Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar (BSA) Medical Hospital and College for the last six months.

According to doctors, Joginder had developed a fever on June 23 while working in a flu clinic. Four days later, he tested positive for COVID-19 infection and developed mild symptoms including slight breathing difficulties.
